On Saturday, September 15th, representatives from campus interfaith programs across the greater Boston area will convene for the first ever Boston Interfaith Campus Summit. Participating universities include Harvard University, Boston University, Tufts University, Babson College, Fisher College, Gordon College, Brandeis University, and more.
At this summit, we will begin to create a greater Boston interfaith campus coalition, a network through which we will work together to do city-wide interfaith work. Participants will discuss their interfaith models, share plans for the year, and begin organizing multi-campus interfaith service events and other projects.
The meeting will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Harvard Humanist Community Center (12 Eliot Street, 3rd Floor, Cambridge, MA 02138), and refreshments will be provided. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP using the online registration form. Representatives and students from any Boston-area college or university are welcome!
For those interested in interfaith community service, there will also be an opportunity to serve on Saturday before the summit. The Harvard Interfaith Council, in collaboration with students from Gordon College, will be working with The Food Project in a farming service project from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. It will take place north of Boston at Beverly Farms, and it will be a great way to meet new people and do hands-on service! Transportation and lunch will provided, but space is limited, so please email Assistant Chaplain Chris Stedman at cstedman@harvardhumanist.org if you are interested in participating.
Finally, stay tuned for more information about our first Values in Action service project of the new semester (following our beach cleanup last month, which saw twenty-three volunteers fill ten thirty-gallon bags with litter, removing around 100 pounds of trash from the beach). We will be doing a park cleanup on Sunday, September 23rd — more information to come soon!
